DISCOVERING MODERN ROME

PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPLORATIONS IN THE CITY OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
Parioli and Pinciano districts

Date: April 2022

Driven by the desire to rediscover Rome, I embarked on a photographic research on its modern architecture, especially residential, less known and told. The theme of her beauty may not seem new, but my research turns to the twentieth century, a period little explored and sometimes despised.
My compass was to show Rome with new eyes to everyone, first to me, then to the Romans and then to the numerous tourists who visit it or would like to do it. The photographs are the most important part, because it is precisely through photography and on the field, often by bike, that the idea was developed.
The built, which I encourage you to look at, is actually better than how they have always told us. Its modern and simple because linked to international taste and innovations, but enriched by the Roman flair with shaped balconies, mixed stone claddings, colored ceramics…
The book consists of photographs of modern residences, built between the 20s and 70s of the twentieth century, especially in the 40s and 50s. The subdivision into neighborhoods can transform the book into a somewhat personal, specific and unusual guide for discovering Modern Rome.
